Lactic Acid Bacterium
Integrated Genomics Inc., Chicago, IL, has signed an agreement with Denmark-based Chr. Hansen to sequence, close and annotate the genome of a probiotic lactic acid bacterium. This contract continues a multi-year relationship between the companies in lactic acid microbial genomics. Scientists at Chr. Hansen’s Genomics & Strain Development Department will use the new sequence along with the extensive database of existing lactic acid bacteria genomic sequences and metabolic reconstructions in Integrated Genomics’ ERGO bioinformatics system to characterize and develop lactic acid bacteria for use in foods and other human health products.
